Pincushion Mountain

We started off our long weekend together with a hike up Pincushion Mountain. About 3 minutes into the hike I started wondering if we’d made a mistake attempting this. Our prairie lungs have still been adjusting to the incline that most of the local hikes offer, but the views are worth it (plus, your heart rate settles after a bit). I’m also a bit of a chicken when it comes to going back down, but this will hopefully improve with more experience hiking.

Pincushion Details

  • Distance: 4.1 km

  • Elevation Gain: 267m

  • Time: 1 hour 20 mins (including a break at the top)

  • Well marked, but we still found ourselves off track a couple of times

I definitely recommend this hike! Plus, once you return to your vehicle a quick drive back to the water brings you to Bliss Bakery. A coffee and cookie helps the jelly legs recover.

Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.
